Commerce - Service 02 · Medusa JS

Headless commerce for brands that need multi-region capability, deeper integrations, and clear ownership.

We architect, build, and run Medusa JS storefronts for D2C and B2B brands that need multi-region, deep integrations, and full ownership of their commerce layer. Fixed monthly retainer. No platform lock-in.

Why headless

Your commerce platform should enable growth, not define its limits.

Your business evolved. You added new markets, customer tiers, subscriptions, B2B pricing, complex catalogs, and ERP integrations. But every new requirement introduced another workaround, another dependency, and more operational friction. Costs increased while flexibility gradually disappeared.

Medusa is a modular commerce backend, headless by design—built for deep integrations, multi-market operations, and customized customer experiences without locking you into a fixed platform model.

When the template stops matching the business, build commerce around how you actually operate.

Is this for you

Medusa fits when growth needs more room.

Signals that headless is right - and honest signals that it isn't.

Consider Medusa when

You sell across multiple regions or currencies with distinct catalog needs.
You need deep ERP, PIM, OMS, or subscription logic.
You run B2B pricing, tiered accounts, or wholesale alongside D2C.

Platform costs, app sprawl, or integrations start blocking the roadmap.

You need to own your commerce data and integrate deeply with your product.
Stay on Shopify if

Your current stack still supports growth cleanly.

Your business is single-region, single-catalog, standard checkout.
You need a full store live in under 4 weeks.

Straight talk beats a bad migration.

How we build

Architected first. Retained after.

01

Architecture audit

Two-week paid audit: current stack, growth constraints, integration surface, migration path, cost model. You leave with a spec whether or not you continue.

02

Foundation build

Medusa core, storefront (Next.js or Astro), CMS layer, region and currency setup, payment providers, integration scaffolding.

03

Integration layer

ERP, PIM, OMS, subscription engine, tax, fulfillment, analytics - connected, tested, documented.

04

Continuous, on retainer

New features, region rollouts, storefront experiments, integration additions, performance and observability - every month.

What's included

Questions

Medusa, answered.

What is Medusa JS?

An open-source, headless commerce backend built in TypeScript. You get modular commerce building blocks - products, cart, checkout, orders, customers - with room to customize ownership and architecture.

When should we migrate from Shopify to Medusa?

When platform costs, app sprawl, or workarounds start blocking growth - especially multi-region operations, deeper B2B pricing, subscriptions, or ERP integrations that feel forced on your current stack. Fit is a conversation, not a revenue threshold.

Is Medusa production-ready?

Yes. Medusa runs D2C and B2B storefronts at scale. What matters is the team implementing it - experienced Medusa teams ship differently than template migrations.

How long does a Medusa build take?

Migrations typically take a few months depending on catalog quality, integrations, and checkout complexity. Greenfield builds are often shorter. We confirm timeline after a scoped audit.

Do we own everything?

Yes. Medusa is open source and runs on your infrastructure, under your accounts. You own the code and the deployment path.

What about Shopify Hydrogen or Commercetools?

Each stack has different tradeoffs. Hydrogen keeps you in the Shopify ecosystem. Enterprise platforms can fit larger programs with different budget and ops models. Medusa is a strong fit when you want open-source flexibility, ownership of the backend, and room to customize without a platform license fee.

How is Medusa work priced?

Commerce work is usually scoped in two phases: a paid architecture audit, then a foundation build sized to your integrations. After launch, most teams move to a monthly retainer from EUR 4,800. We share a clear estimate after we understand the stack - not before.

Who owns the code?

You do. Written under your organization, deployed to your infrastructure. We are the team, not the landlord.
